GROW A...Cordwainers Grow is a small garden-based non-profit organisation based in Hackney. Our aim is to encourage people to get involved with their local community and environment through creative projects. One of these projects we are calling “Grow a…” Last year people around London grew flax which we brought together and processed in community workshops to make linen thread to make a London garment. This year we are launching a similar project – “Grow a Ball of String.” Next year it might be “Grow a… bag of bird food” or “Grow a loaf of bread.”

Time/ 3. 2015 Location/ London BRIEF: We want to design a logo and ‘look’ for our Grow a project. The design for the logo can just be based on or around the words or the font might be distinctive enough not to need any embellishment. It must be simple, though. We will use the logo and font on posters, fact sheets, flyers, emails, website etc. Our primary ‘customers’ will be local ‘ordinary’ people and community groups in London. We might also use the literature for fund-raising – to show people with money what we do. We hope to produce a leaflet or sheet of instructions each year plus associated stationery. We would like a simple, sharp, modern design. The design needs to be flexible – as each year what will be growing changes. So the logo will be in two parts. Grow a would stay the same but the words following will change each year so we need to be able to alter the logo without a complete redesign. |
